It’s Time to Give Back.  A friend of mine named Barbie is trying to raise money to walk for Breast Cancer in the Avon Walk in Chicago on June 2 and 3.  The Avon Foundation uses the money for grants for breast cancer research and other women’s causes.  Barbie will walk 39 miles (a marathon one day and a half marathon the second) and she gets to sleep in a tent somewhere near downtown Chicago in between.  I’m trying to help her raise the money she needs to qualify for the walk.  One reason I’m so interested in this is that I lost a friend named Sandy to breast cancer about two years ago.

So…my contribution works like this – If you buy Planning for Practice Success at the special price of $89.95 between now and June 1, I’ll donate $10 to the Avon Walk, through Barbie and in honor of Sandy.  I will also give you an hour of consulting time free (a $175 value) for buying the book and helping me with this good work.  Go to the website and click on the Special Offer button (www.dcpracticesuccess.com ).  For more information on the Avon Walks (which are being held in several U.S. cities this year), go to http://walk.avonfoundation.org .  Thanks for helping beat Breast Cancer!

Want temporary work as a DC?  If you are living in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware or Maryland and you want to get some temporary work while you get your office set up or look for permanent work, try chirocover (http://www.chirocover.com )  They place DC’s in offices and help find associate positions.  I don’t know much about them other than what one DC told me.  If you use them, let me know what you think.

Before you get your EIN (Employer ID Number) read this IRS publication:  http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1635.pdf   This document provides information on when to get an EIN for sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.  It also takes you item by item through the process of filling out the form and gives information on how to apply online or by phone.  Note:  If you are an LLC, you are a sole proprietorship (if a one-member LLC) or a partnership (if a multi-member LLC).  Read carefully before you apply for the EIN.  _________________________________________________________________________
