IRS Newsletter: The IRS has a
new weekly newsletter for small businesses. Go to
http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/ and click on “Join
Mailing List” to subscribe. You might also want to check
out their “online classroom” which has a series of helpful
videos about small business taxes.
SBA online startup course:
Chiropractic Economics noted recently that the SBA has
several online business startup courses. (Here is the
Chiropractic Economics website:

tried one about how to create a business plan. As I
suspected, it was pretty generic, but it’s free so why not
learn as much as you can. Of course, if you want a more

The “7 to 10” Rule: One of my
marketing mentors told me recently about the “7 to 10” rule,
and I want to pass it along to you. She said it takes 7 to
10 contacts before someone takes action. Just one contact
(an ad or a meeting at a marketing event) isn’t enough.
It’s about getting people to “know, like, and trust” you and
that doesn’t happen with the first contact. There are lots
of ways to make “contact.” Your business card is a contact,
particularly if it’s on a refrigerator magnet. A newsletter
or blog post sent to your mailing list is a contact. A
friendly “hello” to the person each time you see them is an
important contact, particularly if you remember something
about the person or the family or the family pet. In other
words, there are lots of ways to keep in contact with
prospective patients, until they get the point where they
know, like, and trust you and they are ready to sign up as a
patient.
Chiropractic Web Site. I’m
always searching for chiropractic websites that are
different, good, bad, etc. Here is a very good one:.
http://www.seamanchiro.com/default.htm Notice the key
question at the beginning and the buttons in red at the top
and blue on the side. Also note the “request an
appointment” button, which leads you to a form to fill out,
including day/time you prefer.
HIPAA? HIPPA?
I noticed on Dr. Seaman’s website her privacy policy. The
name of the legislation is Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act – in other words, HIPAA. Dr. Seaman had
it spelled wrong on the link but correctly in the body of
the text. Be sure you spell it correctly.
